Perennial ryegrass - persistence

Ryegrass ground cover was measured at the end of each 3 year AYT to assess persistence. AYT's were run under good grazing management so large differences in persistence did not usually occur.
North Island results are presented here because this is generally a tougher environment than the South Island.
Trojan, Bealey and Arrow perennial ryegrasses have shown improved persistence over Revolution AR1, Banquet II Endo 5, and Extreme AR6.
Extreme AR6 shows significantly poorer persistence primarily because of poor plant pulling resistance.
The following table gives results combined over the nine AYT's run to date.

Ryegrass ground cover is measured by ‘point analysis’, where 100 points are placed per plot, and the percentage that hit ryegrass recorded.
